Role Summary
Combine Cafe & Bar Barista will report directly to the Restaurant Manager. As a Barista you are responsible for delivering an elevated culinary experience through delicious edible beverages and well-curated food offerings while also ensuring attentive and memorable service to each guest.
You are passionate about both food and beverages. You meet all guests with a warm smile and enthusiastic greeting, answer questions, take orders, accept payments, and prepare and serve food and drinks. You provide table service with hospitality, knowledge, and efficiency, building genuine connections with every guest. You contribute to a positive, enthusiastic, and professional team environment focused on excellence in all that we do.
Key Accountabilities
Warmly welcome guests, guide them through the menu with confidence and knowledge; highlight promotions, suggest pairings and upsell items as appropriate.
Sell and educate guests about coffee beans, brewing equipment, and drink customization options.
Prepare beverage offerings to standard recipes or customized requests, including changes in temperature, ingredient quantities, or substitutions.
Support the host team by answering phones, taking reservations or to-go orders, greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
Prepare dine-in/ take-out orders and serve items to guests while delivering exceptional service.
Collect and process guest payments in a timely and accurate manner; manage cash floats.
Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction; promptly resolve any issues.
Check guests' identification to confirm legal drinking age before serving alcohol.
Work collaboratively as part of a high-energy team, supporting ongoing training and mentorship when required.
Learn and stay updated on all menus, ingredients and presentation techniques.
Maintain visually appealing signage and displays.
Take inventory and replenish stock for displays and service areas.
Uphold food safety regulations and quality controls.
Clean and restock the coffee bar and dining areas; sanitize equipment and utensils.
Clear and reset tables or counters after guest departure.
Restock service areas with necessary supplies.
Assist with cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, tidying service stations, removing trash, and checking restrooms.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Café or Restaurant Manager.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior barista and/or serving experience is an asset
Serving It Right certification is required
FoodSafe Level 1 certification considered an asset
Must be eligible to work in Canada
Skills and Abilities
High grooming standards; consistently professional appearance
Warm, outgoing personality with strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and remain efficient in a fast-paced environment
Team-oriented, collaborative, and supportive
Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent command of spoken and written English; knowledge of a second language is an asset
Capable of standing for long periods, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs
Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
