The Labourer Foreman position is a full time regular position on our construction site. This position reports to the Site Superintendent and works closely alongside other site team members in a collaborative manner. All work performed must comply within BlueCity’s high quality standards of quality workmanship. BlueCity Construction employees all work to ensure their work is done in a safe and timely manner.
The expectation of this role is to lead and direct a crew of labourers in performing day to day tasks. Overseeing of the tasks and ensuring quality of the work being completed. Demonstrates good site safety knowledge and solid understanding of the safety regulations. Responsible in making decisions and to over multiple tasks at one given time. Must be able to read drawings, preform layout, delegate the crew, and perform/explain labouring related tasks.
Organizes, directs and supervise employees engaged in specific functions on construction projects
Work to complete his/her portion of the project on time and on budget
Knowledge of the full range of materials, methods and tools involved in construction projects
Knowledge of business and management principles (planning, resources, leadership, production, costing)
Constructing footings, foundations, architectural walls, suspended slabs, planters and stairs
Test equipment and machinery to ensure good working order
Ensure team is performing at peak standard and productivity
Ensure health and safety regulations are being followed at all times
Supervises the construction of a portion of a project under the direction of a Superintendent
Maintains ongoing communication with the Superintendent
Assigns work to labourers
Monitors and addresses cost and labour performance of construction projects in conjunction with the Superintendent
Carries out the implementation of management decisions such as construction methods, schedule, quality and safety
Responsible for on-site project administration and reporting of labour, equipment and material
Ability to be able to read and interpret drawings
Clean up job site at end of day ensuring all equipment is properly secure
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, training and professional development
Perform other related duties as required
Must have a minimum of 5 year experience as a labourer in the construction industry with good knowledge and use of hand tools and power tools. Supervisory experience required. Must have current CSTS, Fall Protection and First Aid Level 2 certificates.
Ability to maintain a positive professional attitude and work in a fast paced environment. Experience in large projects would be an asset. Must have a satisfactory criminal record check.

Requires good communication and leadership skills as well as being knowledgeable in the carpentry trade
Ability to recognize potential problems and report them in a timely fashion
Knowledge of the characteristics of construction materials and their proper use
Knowledge of installation equipment, techniques, wiring or programs to meet specifications
Work at heights, good balance
Bend, stretch, lift push, pull and carry
Describe and point out safety compliance and regulatory issues
Good communication and interpersonal skills both upward and downward
Work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
